Important information for Home Based Business Licenses
- Provide off-street parking for all employees (in addition to required parking for the dwelling)
- Business hours of operation 7 am-7 pm
- Not generate additional traffic between 6 am to 8 pm
- License valid from July 1 to June 30
- No impact outside the residential home (ex. no storing of equipment, products, etc. outside of the home).
- Business is contained entirely within residential property and associated buildings.
- No additional traffic (non-residential type deliveries, shipping, customers.)
- Prohibits selling of goods.
- Employ up to 5 individuals who do not reside on the property.
- Does not generate traffic in excess of 10 vehicles per day (excluding residential-type deliveries)
- Provide off-street parking for employees and customers.
- Application must be approved by the majority of the City Council
- Employs 6-8 employees
- Notice provided to property owners within 1,000 foot radius of the business address
- 1-acre minimum requirement

- Fencing requirements
- No other expanded Home Based Business within a 1,000-foot radius of the business address
- Does not generate traffic in excess of 10 vehicles per day (excluding residential type deliveries)
- Site Plan Required
- Prohibited to operate as an Expanded Home-Based Business for over a year.
In-home instruction and Daycares in accordance with 8.2, Garage/Yard sales, Agriculture-Animals, Agriculture-Food, Agriculture- Equipment, Minor (Under 18 yrs. old) Operated Business.
- All service and repair must be worked on within a building or structure.
- Inspections are required at the expense of the applicant.

Follow tax regulations: Ensure that you understand and comply with any tax regulations related to operating a home-based business. The Utah State Tax Commission website can provide you with information on state tax requirements: Utah State Tax Commission
Obtain necessary insurance: Consider contacting an insurance agent to discuss whether you need any additional insurance coverage for your home-based business.
Some types pf businesses require a fire inspection from the Tooele County Fire Marshal. Your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted if your business requires an inspection
Refunds shall only be permitted when no City work has been performed in connection with the fee, unless expressly set forth herein. Exceptions may be approved by the City Council in exceptional circumstances. Credit card fees and fees charged by or collected for another government entity shall not be refunded.
